ON A MISSION TO BUILD BETTER ATHLETES
My goal is to challenge the sports performance industry and shift the mindset that says strength training is the most important key to athleticism. Speed wins and efficient movement separates the good athletes from the great athletes. Simple Speed Coach is one avenue where I can educate, train and equip coaches, parents and athletes with free resources and high quality, effective, industry proven, simple to follow training that focuses on all aspects of athleticism including speed, power, agility mechanics and athletic movement integral to long term athletic development and success.
Paul Aanonson grew up in Iowa as a four sport athlete and senior captain of the football, basketball, track and baseball teams for Ballard High School. He was an All-State wide receiver, long jump State Champion and was named a three time All-District baseball in-fielder and All-Conference basketball guard.
Following high school, Aanonson was a two year starter at wide receiver and return specialist for the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits. He earned FCS All-American honors as a return specialist and the Adam Vinatieri special team's player of the year award, while racking up four school records. He led the nation his senior year in punt return yards/game and yards/season (all NCAA Div. I), helping SDSU to their first conference title in 42 years. He finished his senior year an NFL prospect, running a 4.38 sec. 40 yard dash, but missed his opportunity due to previous shoulder surgeries.
Aanonson graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelors in Exercise Science and a minor in Nutrition and Business. He then received a Master’s in Sport Administration from The University of Northern Colorado. He is certified with Functional Movement Systems and has held his NSCA CSCS certification for the last 12 years.
He designed and currently directs the Sports Performance and ACL Bridge (return to sport) program for Simple Speed Coach. He is an Adjunct Professor for the Exercise Science department at The University of Northern Colorado. Paul has also started a successful university internship program for the Health & Exercise Science Department where he's mentored and prepared over 100 college graduates.
Paul and his wife Cailyn currently live in Colorado.
